The Thompson-Nicola Regional District
Welcome to the Thompson-Nicola Regional District. Incorporated in 1967, the Regional District functions as a partnership of our member municipalities and electoral areas.
With a population of over 122,286
(2006 census) and a total area of 45,279 square kilometres, the TNRD incorporates ten (10) municipalities (Ashcroft, Barriere, Cache Creek, Chase, Clearwater, Clinton, Kamloops, Logan Lake, Lytton and Merritt) as well as ten (10) electoral areas whose voices at the Board table is representative of many small unincorporated communities.
The Regional District is active in providing over 115 services including planning and building inspection, emergency preparedness and 911 services, recreation, utilities, television rebroadcasting, river buoys, transit, tourism, economic development as well as environmental health services which include waste reduction, mosquito and weed control. Library services and a very active Film Commission also fall under the Regional District.
